The Little Book of Gold is targeted to non-profits with annual budgets less than a million dollars, and usually more like a few hundred thousand dollars. “Very small” non-profits would be those with budgets less than $100,000, but usually more like $25,000. Another way to put it would be that small non-profits have a small staff (less than 12), usually without a full-time development director. Very small non-profits usually have only a single paid person on staff, or are run entirely by volunteers.
